Chocolate Chip Cookies

Spread the love

Looking for a quick sweet treat? These simple chocolate chip cookies are perfect! No need for multiple types of sugar, no resting time—just one bowl to mix everything up. This is our go-to Sunday night treat as a family.

Serving Size:
12 regular cookies
Time:
30mins
Difficulty:
Beginner

Ingredients

  • 1 & 3/4 cups of flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (granulated sugar will do just fine)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (if you don’t have it, skip it)
  • 1 large egg or 2 small ones
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Mix sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg in a bowl until smooth, fluffy and the sugar is no longer too grainy.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold it in—do not overmix.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly combined. You should have a sticky cookie dough. If it is too wet, add 1 to 2 table spoons of flour.
  5. Line a baking tray with parchment paper
  6. Scoop out 12 regular-sized balls using a spoon or cookie scoop. No need to flatten them; they will spread while baking.
  7. Bake for 13-15 minutes.
  8. Rest & Cool: Once out of the oven, let them cool. They will look soft at first but will firm up to a crispy outside with a gooey centre.
  9. Enjoy when it is cool!

Extra Tips:

  • Do not touch or flip the cookies when you take them out of the oven.
  • The sugar can be adjusted to your level of sweetness, but I only use 1/2 cup because the chocolate chips are sweet.
  • If the cookie dough is too wet, add 1-2 tablespoons of flour to help it form a cookie dough. The cookie dough should not be too dry or too wet.
  • If you like crispy cookies, bake it for 18minutes instead of the 13-15minutes. The longer you bake your cookies, the crispier and hard it gets. Enjoy!.
